Dear Parents and Carers, I am writing to inform you about upcoming changes to our PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) curriculum, which will be implemented from September 2026. As a Rights Respecting School, we ensure our curriculum supports children’s understanding of their rights, including their right to be safe, healthy, informed, and heard. We are committed to working in partnership with families and would like to share this information with you and offer opportunities for discussion, questions, and feedback. How this links to children’s rights (UNCRC) Our PSHE and RSE curriculum supports key articles from the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC), including: ·                  Article 3 – the right for all decisions to be made in the best interests of the child ·                  Article 12 – the right for children to have their views heard and taken seriously ·                  Article 13 – the right to access and share information ·                  Article 17 – the right to reliable information that supports their wellbeing These changes help ensure that pupils receive accurate, age-appropriate information and feel supported, listened to, and safe. How we will share information We will be offering several ways for you to find out more about the updated curriculum: 1. (Attached) 2. 1:1 Meetings If you would prefer to discuss the curriculum in more detail or ask specific questions, we are offering individual meetings on: 📅 11th June 🕘 9:00am – 11:00am Please contact the school office if you would like to book a 1:1 meeting. 3. Informal Drop-in Session (Coffee & Cake) We warmly invite you to join us for an informal session where you can: ·                  View curriculum resources ·                  Ask questions ·                  Speak with staff 📅 11th June 🕐 1:00pm – 2:00pm Your rights as parents and carers We want all families to feel informed, listened to and involved. You have the right to: ·                  Be consulted and give your views ·                  Ask questions and receive clear, accurate information ·                  View the school’s PSHE & RSE Policy ·                  See examples of learning materials and lessons ·                  Request to withdraw your child from Sex Education Right to withdraw from Sex Education It is a parent’s legal right to request that their child is withdrawn from any or all Sex Education (this does not apply to statutory Relationships or Health Education). Withdrawal process If you are considering withdrawing your child, we follow a clear and supportive process: Stage 1: Complete the Withdrawal Form Parents/carers should complete and submit the withdrawal request form. (Attached) Stage 2: Meeting with School Staff A meeting will be arranged with your child’s Class Teacher and/or the PSHE Lead to: ·                  Share the relevant materials ·                  Answer any questions ·                  Support you in making an informed decision Stage 3: Agreement and Confirmation If you wish to proceed, the withdrawal form will be signed by both the parent/carer and a senior leader. ·                  A copy of the request will be kept in your child’s educational record ·                  Appropriate alternative learning will be provided ·                  Arrangements will be agreed collaboratively with you We hope you will take the opportunity to engage with us around this important area of the curriculum. Our aim is to ensure that all pupils receive education that is inclusive, respectful, and supports their rights, wellbeing, and personal development.
