Below is what we will be studying in Autumn 2
English
This term we will be using Talk 4 Writing to continue to develop the children as writers. This will be done in three stages (immersion, imitation and innovation). We will be focusing on the stories 'Elmer' and Good Little Wolf' where the children will learn and memorise a five sentence model text using actions and familiarise themselves with the story using a variety of different tasks and activities during English lessons. This will then enable them to innovate the story in order to write their own version independently in the same style.
Maths
In Maths, we will be following the 'mastering number' scheme to help the children to develop their concept of number skills. This will be alongside number and place value; addition and subtraction and fractions.
Science
In science, we will be studying the topic 'Our amzing human body'. We will develop our understanding that humans and some other animals have bones and muscles for support, protection and movement as well as understanding the importance of nutrition for our bodies.
Geography
In Geography, our topic is 'Who lives in the Anarctica?'. The children will understand the 7 different continants and their climates and identify Antarctica as one of them. They will understand where Antacrtica is in the world and why it has a specific climate and look more closely into what it is like.
MFL
During spanish lessons, we will be learning the different greetings and developing out pronunciation of these.
PE
In PE, we will be focusing on games. The children will develop their skills in different types of games and use these skills in order to work well in teams.
PSHE
We will focus on RSE and relationships.
RE
We will be exploring what it means to be a Hindu in Britain today and relating this to our rights respecting.
We will have forest school on Tuesdays and music on Fridays.
To view any of the wonderful work that we have done in Class Cedar, please refer to your child’s Class Dojo Class Story and Portfolio where you will find news, pictures and information about what they have achieved and how we have celebrated their achievements.
